PTA News

Thank you for... 

  • joining the PTA.  The number one reason to join is to benefit your child. We're still more than $8,000 away from reaching our $35,000 goal. Buy your membership today!

Plan on...

  • encouraging your student to participate in the 2022-2023 National PTA Reflections Art Contest. The guidelines are on the PTA's website. The deadline has been extended to 12/9 due to the low number of submissions.
  • making the holidays special for several Hoover families by participating in the Hoover Holiday Gift Drive. The sign up is available here.
  • helping with the 12/12-12/16 Book Fair by:
    1. volunteering. Here is the Sign Up Genius link
    2. donating muffins, fruit, and breakfast pastries for the Teacher Preview Day on 12/12 and Pastries with Parents on 12/13. Donations need to be dropped off by 12/11 to the coordinator's house at 11208 River View Drive, Potomac, MD 20854. Email presidenthooverpta@gmail.com if you are able to help.
    3. encouraging your student to participate in the Winter Book Fair Contest. Check out the flyer here. The entry deadline is 12/12.
    4. attending Pastries with Parents on 12/13.  Click on this link for more information and to RSVP.
  • participating in the next Spirit Night fundraiser on 12/14 at Klay Healthy Indian Eats (http://www.eatklay.com/) located at 9736 Traville Gateway Drive, Rockville.
  • giving to the Hoover Staff's Amazon Gift Registry.  The health room requested some items as well as the after school tutoring programs.

  • The 6th Grade Outdoor Education Parent Meeting will be held virtually on 12/5 from 7-8 pm.  More details will be provided closer to the date.
  • The 7th Grade Global Humanities Department still needs parent volunteers for its Financial Literacy Field Trip.  If interested in volunteering, click here.
  • Order your student's yearbook here. Information about buying Congratulatory Ads for 8th Graders is on the Hoover website.
  • The Health Room needs donations of gently used pants and sweatshirts in adult sizes S/M and a few L/XL. Options are also available on the Hoover Staff's Amazon Gift Registry. Donations should be dropped off in the Health Room.  Contact Leah Goldberg or Teri Tomlin with any questions.
  • Click on this link to sign up to volunteer in the Media Center. Volunteers are required to complete an online child abuse and neglect training and a COVID vaccination verification form. You can access these requirements here.

  • Read MCPS' Community Message: Things to Know for Thursday December 1 for information about a Walking School Bus initiative, an upcoming mental health forum, how to stay involved in the operating budget process, reminders about inclement weather information, and more.
  • Read the latest edition of MCPS' Quick Notes, which includes a calendar of events and other helpful MCPS news and information.
  • Single event tickets and season passes for Winston Churchill's games can only be purchased online through GoFan.co.  If your student does not have a cell phone, have them bring a copy of the purchased ticket.  HERE is a list of athletic events.
