  • participating in the next fundraising Spirit Night at Potomac Pizza (Falls Road) on 2/22.  Here is the flyer. And mark your calendar for the Ledo Pizza Spirit Night on 3/22.
  • signing up your student for the Hoover Read-A-Thon, a new PTA fundraiser that will start on Monday 2/27. Students will spend the month of March earning prizes for both reading and raising funds. It is possible to earn prizes without raising any money. Parents must assist students in setting up their account since they are not allowed to use their school emails. You can activate your reader's account by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/yZqoeV/1 and selecting your student's Language Arts teacher's class. Student accounts set up by midnight 2/26 will receive a treat at school on 2/27.  Click here to see all of the fantastic ways that students can earn prizes.

  • signing up to distribute Read-A-Thon prizes the week of 2/27.
  • joining Hoover's PTA Facebook Group to stay up to date on all things Hoover. 
  • purchasing items to support the Counseling Department through the Hoover Staff's Amazon Gift Registry.  There are also items to support overall classroom experiences.   
  • signing up for a FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid class provided by MCCPTA and EveryMind. The next class date is 2/24 from 9 am-3 pm. If you are interested in attending, please complete this form and EveryMind will send you the registration link. If you are interested in taking the class but need a future date, please also fill out this form to be notified of additional dates.

  • two recently approved documents by the Montgomery County Council of PTA's (MCCPTA) delegates: 1) the Digital Balance Resolution, which recommends limits on screen time in classrooms; and 2) the MCCPTA Advocacy Priorities for 2022-2023, which lays out its priorities regarding access to equitable opportunities; capital funds and facilities; operating funds; communication; curriculum; diversity, equity and inclusion; health and wellness; and school climate and security.   • the Student Service Learning (SSL) overview and opportunities on the PTA website.  Here is a list of February 2023 opportunities. Another opportunity: MSI is looking for "Youth Game Leaders" for 1st grade games held at Hoover every Saturday in September and October. At least one year of soccer experience is required. The Youth Game Leader trainings are August 28 or September 5.  Please go to the MSI website (www.msisoccer.org), click the "Play With MSI' tab, and then "Youth Game Leaders Program" for more info and to register for one of the trainings.

  • Principal Dr. Kim's February Monthly Message provides an overview of everything happening at Hoover and parent engagement opportunities.
  • Parent volunteers are needed for Hoover's Steam Night on 3/14 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Here is the sign up link. 
  • Hoover wants to ensure every student has access to a device at home. Families that need Internet access (a mifi device) should notify their counselor who will then fill out a mifi request form for consideration.  If you need a MCPS student Chromebook at home, please follow the instructions in this form: Chromebook Form to Distribute to Families.
