Thank you for...

  • another TERRIFIC Read-A-Thon week! We are now only $716 away from our $6,000 fundraising goal with 389 readers logging in reading minutes totaling 194,685! The Week 2 Winners are still being tallied and will be shared in next week's Hoover Notes.
  • joining the PTA.  The number one reason to join is to benefit your child.  Help us reach our $35,000 goal.  Buy your membership today.

Plan on...

  • signing up your student for the Hoover Read-A-Thon.  Since winners are selected weekly, readers signing up today still have the chance to win this month. Parents must assist students in setting up their account since they are not allowed to use their school emails. You can activate your reader's account by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/yZqoeV/1 and selecting your student's Language Arts teacher's class.  Click here to see all of the fantastic ways that students can earn prizes.
  • sponsoring the Read-A-Thon through a limited number of digital and printed business sponsorship opportunities.  Click here to reserve your sponsorship spot today!
  • participating in the next fundraising Spirit Night at Ledo Pizza on 3/22.
  • purchasing items from the Hoover Staff's Amazon Gift Registry. Many teachers have requested snacks for their after school programs.
  • joining Hoover's PTA Facebook Group to stay up to date on all things Hoover.
  • reviewing and submitting comments on the Board of Education's recently proposed changes to Policy ABC (Parent and Family Involvement) which guides regulation ABC-RA. Why should you care? While several of the proposed revisions expand outreach expectations, reinforce commitments to equity and align with National PTA Standards for Family-School Partnerships, others may leave family and student involvement in school improvement efforts to the sole discretion of MCPS (e.g., "as appropriate" language in line 176 and line 253).  If family involvement, information sharing and stakeholder participation in school improvement are important to you, please read the proposed revisions to Policy ABC and submit your comments to the Board of Education before the April 20th deadline. The proposed Policy ABC revisions and public comment submission form can be found on this page beneath the video clip on the right-hand side.

Check out...
