  • signing up your student for the Hoover Read-A-Thon.  Since winners are selected weekly, readers signing up today still have the chance to win this month. Parents must assist students in setting up their account since they are not allowed to use their school emails.   • reviewing and submitting comments on the Board of Education's recently proposed changes to Policy ABC (Parent and Family Involvement) which guides regulation ABC-RA.  If family involvement, information sharing and stakeholder participation in school improvement are important to you, please read the proposed revisions to Policy ABC and submit your comments to the Board of Education before the April 20th deadline. The proposed Policy ABC revisions and public comment submission form can be found on this page beneath the video clip on the right-hand side.  
  • reviewing the Q&As from the 2/22 NAACP Parents' Council's Conversation with the Superintendent here. There is a lot of information on topics that PTAs should be very interested in. Here is the registration form for the next NAACP Parents Council virtual meeting on 3/22 at 6 pm.

  • the Student Service Learning (SSL) overview and opportunities on the PTA website.  One SSL opportunity: MSI is looking for "Youth Game Leaders" for 1st grade games held at Hoover every Saturday in September and October. At least one year of soccer experience is required. The Youth Game Leader trainings are August 28 or September 5.  Please go to the MSI website (www.msisoccer.org), click the "Play With MSI' tab, and then "Youth Game Leaders Program" for more info and to register for one of the trainings.

  • Principal Dr. Kim's March Monthly Message provides an overview of everything happening at Hoover and parent engagement opportunities.
  • Tickets for Herbert Hoover Theatre's Musical Aladdin Jr. and Intermission Nightclub Show on 5/5-5/7 are on sale now and selling fast. There are 110 students in the production from Hoover and three elementary and three high schools.   • The Counseling Department is hosting a Career Expo on 5/18 from 5-7 pm. Presenters and volunteers are needed. Click here for the flyer and sign up link.
  • Families that need Internet access (a mifi device) should notify their counselor who will fill out a mifi request form for consideration.  If you need a MCPS student Chromebook at home, please follow the instructions in this form: Chromebook Form to Distribute to Families.
  • Volunteers are needed in the Media Center.  Click on this link to sign up.  Volunteers are required to complete an online child abuse and neglect training and a COVID vaccination verification form. You can access these requirements here.
