PTA News

Thank you for... 

  • a TERRIFIC Read-A-Thon!  The 3rd week winners are Iman and Sophia Raney (Grade 6), Grace Luo and Donald Hue (Grade 7), Fatemeh Tofigh and Arianne Raney (Grade 8), Gina Blake (Faculty and Staff), Period 7 Kane (Grade 6), Period 1 Chai-Onn (Grade 7), Period 7 Martin (Grade 8), and Period 3 Stevens (Bridge).  The final week winners are Iman and Rasen Xu (Grade 6), Donald Hue and Lilianne Acheson (Grade 7), Fatemeh Tofigh and Katherine Fuller (Grade 8), and Ryan Kwak (Faculty and Staff). The class winners and overall winners will be announced soon.

  • attending the PTA, Arts and English Departments Heart's the Arts on 4/13.  
  • participating in the PTA fundraising Spirit Nights on 4/12 at Klay and 5/12 at Fire Wok.  
  • joining Hoover's PTA Facebook Group to stay up to date on all things Hoover.
  • signing up for the MCCPTA recommended "Got the Power Girls" Conference on 5/6. The conference is hosted by the Montgomery County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and is free. Click here for more information and to register.
  • reviewing and submitting comments on the Board of Education's recently proposed changes to Policy ABC (Parent and Family Involvement) which guides regulation ABC-RA.  If family involvement, information sharing and stakeholder participation in school improvement are important to you, please read the proposed revisions to Policy ABC and submit your comments to the Board of Education before the April 20th deadline. The proposed Policy ABC revisions and public comment submission form can be found on this page beneath the video clip on the right-hand side.  
  • reviewing the Q&As from the 2/22 NAACP Parents' Council's Conversation with the Superintendent here. There is a lot of information on topics that PTAs should be very interested in.

  • Principal Dr. Kim's April Monthly Message provides an overview of everything happening at Hoover and parent engagement opportunities.
  • The Counseling Department is hosting a Career Expo on 5/18 from 5-7 pm. Presenters and volunteers are still needed. Click here for the flyer and sign up link.

  • Families that need Internet access (a mifi device) should notify their counselor who will fill out a mifi request form for consideration.  If you need a MCPS student Chromebook at home, please follow the instructions in this form: Chromebook Form to Distribute to Families.
  • Volunteers are needed in the Media Center.  Click on this link to sign up.  Volunteers are required to complete an online child abuse and neglect training and a COVID vaccination verification form. You can access these requirements here.
