PTA News

This is the last Hoover News for the 2022-2023 School Year.

Hoover News
  • Principal Dr. Kim's June Monthly Message provides an overview of everything happening at Hoover and parent engagement opportunities. 
  • There are still a few yearbooks available. You can purchase them here.
  • The PE Department is sponsoring Field Days on 6/12 (6th Grade), 6/13 (7th Grade), and 6/14 (8th Grade). Parents are welcome to join students outdoors in the afternoon. More details will be provided soon.
  • Please remind your students to collect their artwork from the school and Montgomery Mall art shows from Ms. DeBoy's classroom before 6/16.
  • The Hoover Administration has been analyzing the MCPS anti-racist audit survey results. There were high participation rates of stakeholders in the surveys (i.e., 816 students, 284 parents/families, and 100 staff members). A summary of the work so far is linked here. The full results will be posted on the school website
  • Due to lower enrollment, Hoover's staffing has been reduced significantly. The Instructional Leadership Team needs your feedback to help plan next year. Please take a moment to complete this google survey for each Hoover student.
  • Volunteers are needed in the Media Center. Click on this link to sign up. Volunteers are required to complete an online child abuse and neglect training and a COVID vaccination verification form. You can access these requirements here.
MCPS Community News
  • MCPS 5 Things to Know, June 8 has information aboutthe newly adopted Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 operating budget, the annual back-to-school fair, summer academic resources, and more. 
  • MCPS will continue to make updates to the Antiracist System Action Plan presented to the Board of Education last month. Students, staff and families are invited to review the plan and use this form to provide suggestions by 6/16.
  • Here is the latest edition of MCPS QuickNotes, which includes a calendar of events and MCPS news and information.
  • The Half Day & Rising 9th Grade Preview Day at Winston Churchill is on 6/16 from 7:45-11:40 am with an optional lunch. Students will report directly to Churchill and will use Churchill's bus routes if taking the bus.  For more information, click here.
