PTA News
Join the PTA if you haven't already. We can't do this without you! You will be entered in a drawing to receive a free basket of Spirit Wear if you sign up for membership by 9/17. There will be one basket per grade.
Thank you to our Hoover Families for supporting the PTA through your purchases at Back-to-School Night and online. We are expecting a new shipment of your current favorite styles in the coming weeks. Enjoy a yummy dinner at Chipotle (10116 River Road) during the PTA's first fundraising Spirit Night on 9/14 from 5-9 pm. Be sure to mention the Hoover PTA fundraiser when ordering in the restaurant. The online ordering code is 4NFRPEJ and only applies for pickup. Mark your calendar for other Spirit Nights: 9/28 at Pike Kitchen, 10/5 at Shake Shack, and 10/19 at Potomac Pizza.

Principal Dr. Kim's Monthly Message provides a comprehensive overview of everything happening at Hoover. Pages 36-39 list parent engagement opportunities.
Hoover's SSL pageprovides information about SSL (Student Service Learning) hours. MCPS requires 75 SSL hours to graduate. One SSL opportunity: make blankets for Project Linus (Montgomery Chapter), an organization that provides handmade blankets to children experiencing trauma in Montgomery County and surrounding areas. Another is a Fall Clean-Up, for ages 12-18, on 9/24 from 9 am-noon for 4 SSL hours.
A Girls on the Run/Heart & Sole running team is forming for Hoover girls in grades 6-8. Practices start on 9/20 and will be on Tuesdays after school (3-4:30 pm) and Sundays (2-3:30 pm) at Highland Stone Park, down the street from Hoover. The fall season culminates in a 5K on 11/20. Hoover's Student Government Association (SGA) is organizing a fundraiser at Potomac Pizza (Falls Road location) on 9/21 from 4-8 pm. Be sure to mention the Hoover SGA when ordering.
An Open House will be held at Hoover on 10/10 from 9 am - noon.

Hoover's 7th Grade Global Humanities Classes will participate in a financial literacy field trip on 12/5, 12/6 and 12/8. Parent volunteers are needed. More information and a sign up link will be provided closer to the date.
